PostHeaderIcon How to Choose the Perfect Job For You

You have been looking for a job and after being interviewed, you have more than one position to choose from. How do you decide which job offer to accept? The money being offered by one company looks tempting but there are things you like about all of them. Do not get hung up on money unless it is your only focus in life. Before making a decision, try comparing the companies against the points below.

First, you must know what your goals are and the things that are important to you. Once you have done your research and comparisons, you will have the tools you need to make the perfect decision. The job that most closely relates to the things most important to you will probably be your best choice.

Environment – Either prior to or following the interview, ask for a tour of the work place. While on the tour, consider things like noise levels and the general mood of the employees. Are the employees friendly and polite? What is the condition of the environment; clean or dirty? Are the employees allowed to add personal touches to their work space? Review the answers to these questions to decide if you could be productive in that work place.

Benefits – Does the company offer health care, when, and what is the cost and coverage? Do they offer a retirement plan? If so, do they match employee contributions? This is important when comparing overall earnings. If the position includes commission, what are the rates, incentives, and earning potential?

The Boss – In many instances, the person interviewing you will not be your boss. It is important to know who your boss will be and request to meet them. When you meet the person who will be your boss, take note of their attitude and use your instincts. What kind of vibes do you get from them? Do they seem respectful of others? Do they make eye contact and have a firm hand shake? Do they act too busy to be bothered? If you accept the position with the company, these are great questions to know the answers to. This boss could be your boss for a long time.

Is this job what you want? Is this job enabling you to do what you enjoy? Will this position cause any family conflicts? Weigh the pros and cons. If this job is not what you dream of doing, then consider the above factors before settling for less. Is taking this position going to be worth the money you will earn when you consider what you would be losing?

Searching for work can become an overwhelming chore. With all the competition doing lots commonly has to be coupled with value to reach a goal. Look at Target Employment for valuable suggestions as well as Target employment application. Having sound tips avoids wasting time searching for what may work in having to look at what does not. PostHeaderIcon Get That Job – Your Attitude Determines Your Altitude

The Internet is a great place to learn about attitude in assisting you to get that job. There are many clips on You Tube showing great examples of determined people.

These people, when faced with a challenging situation, can choose to react in many different ways. One of my favorite examples on YouTube is of a guy by the name of Donald Braswell, who entered America’s Got Talent. Donald walked onto the stage to face grumpy judges and an angry crowd. Immediately after he opened his mouth to start singing the audience rejected him. Basically the crowd was unreasonable and began to boo him, although they hadn’t given him a chance to show his singing talent.

In the face of this challenge Donald continued singing with self-belief. He’s in the moment. He knows and feels what he has practiced for. He knows this is his time and he has two choices. Give it all or give up. Donald gave his all and even managed to turn the hostile audience into fans. He didn’t give up and continued with his performance. The end result is that he impressed both the judges and the audience and made it through to the next stage of the competition.

Our attitude is our reaction to any given situation or circumstance. How would you have reacted if the crowd began to boo you? Would you have given up when it got a little difficult, or would you have found that little extra something inside of you that gets you to rise to the top? Donald’s triumph reminds me of the story about some potato farmers and it goes like this…

An Idaho potato farmer went up to North Dakota to grow potatoes. The North Dakota farmers had an agreement with the co-op to separate the potatoes into small, medium and large bins when they were sold.

The local potato farmers would hand sort their potatoes in the field and place them in separate bins so they would get top dollar for them. They sorted the small potatoes into the small bin, the medium potatoes into the medium bin and the large potatoes into the large bin.

The Idaho farmer, however, put all of his potatoes in one wagon without sorting them and headed to the co-op. The locals thought he was either lazy or stupid and they knew he wouldn’t get top dollar for his potatoes. However, to their surprise they found out that he got the same price as everyone else.

When the Idaho farmer delivered his potatoes, they were sorted like everyone else’s. But how? The difference was that while everyone else took the smooth road to the co-op, the Idaho farmer took the rough road. He took the road that no-one else was willing to take.

As his wagon traveled over the bumps and holes, the small potatoes went to the bottom of the trailer; the medium in the middle; and the large potatoes rose to the top. When he arrived at the co-op, all he had to do was unload the potatoes in the appropriate bins.

“Big potatoes always rise to the top on rough roads.”

Our attitude is our evaluation of any given situation and the reaction we take. We have the ability to choose our attitude and put new meaning to any circumstance or event.

As with the example of Donald Braswell entering America’s Got Talent, he chose the attitude of determination. Donald could have quit and blamed everything and everyone around him for his poor performance. He could have used grumpy judges as an excuse or complained about how unfair the audience had treated him.

Instead he dug deep, continued on the rough road that was presented to him and became a big potato because of it. It’s this same determination that we need when going after the job we really want. Get that job you want by first setting your attitude to self belief, then back that up with determination and action.

PostHeaderIcon Take these simple tips on how to Cold Call

Always be Positive
Remember that cold calling is a powerful business strategy. First be
positive with your self. Your co-workers and your prospects you’re
about to make the cold call should be next to feel positive about.
There must be enthusiasm in your voice the people can feel right away.

Prepare to be Prepared

It’s not enough to know the procedure and having the right attitude.
Prepare the list of whom to be called or visited, how the introduction
should be done, learn what prospects do and the most important part
of all is that your offered product or service should be something that
could be of good use for them. Being well prepared can turn a simple
cold call into real business.

I am what I am
Never sound too over reactive or obviously nervous on the phone or
when you shake your prospect’s hand. Never try to be somebody you
are really not with an aim to getting the attention you need. Assume
that talking to your prospective customer for the first time should be
the key to a lasting relationship.

Calm Down
Anticipate that you’ll be declined. That’s it. It’s really hard but never
take it as a personal attack on you. Don’t let the feeling of being
dismissed put you down and roll you back. Be patient and learn from
your mistakes. You will reap a good harvest if you commit yourself to
being persistent. This will also help you find a strategy that will work
in the long run. Look at each turn down as if it were the next stepping stone.

The Art of Questioning
You cannot expect someone to believe you right away and just sign up
after describing your company’s objectives. You have to ask the right
questions. Ask what they do correctly and promptly to help you use it
along the conversation. A sure attention getter when opening a
conversation can be “May I ask you about something MsMr?” People
want to help and this question lowers their guard. The next question
will be “Can you help me out about this thing sirma’am?” This
question does not ask for a yes or no answer but would definitely give
you a valuable response that you can use all through out the interaction.
It’s possible that the little Girl Scout on the street asked the same
question and left the doorway with 2 less boxes of cookies at hand!
